Project Overview
Reimagining Acoustic Ergonomics
Digital audio workstations have preserved physical mixing desk skeuomorphism for over thirty years. With spatial computing headsets, acoustic spatialization demands a radical leap toward direct volumetric manipulation.

The Challenge
Precision Without Skeuomorphism
Translating 3D vector coordinates into low-latency head-related transfer functions (HRTF) requires musicians to perceive depth intuitively. We avoided faux-metallic knobs in favor of clean Swiss editorial typography and geometric vector nodes that respond to gaze and finger micro-gestures.
“The best spatial interfaces make acoustic physics feel like clay in your fingers.”
Outcome & Impact
A New Standard in Spatial Sound
The interface debuted at the European Spatial Audio Conference and was deployed across four experimental recording facilities. The design system architecture formed the foundation for Atelier Sonique’s commercial workstation release.
